3D Surface-to-Surface Contact Algorithm for SPH Method and Its Application to Simulation of Impact Failure of Ceramic Plate

This work presents a three-dimensional (3D) surface-to-surface contact algorithm for SPH method and its application to the simulation of material failure during high velocity impact projectile on ceramic plate. In present algorithm, surfaces 3D objects represented by particles are reconstructed. Based reconstructed surfaces, box test followed crossover is employed detect contacts between different objects, penalty enforce conditions pairs identified detection. Validation examples presented demonstrate accuracy capability algorithm. The calculated results show that can achieve it capable handling various problems, including frictionless frictional problems as well small significant deformation problems. then used simulate plate reproduced, residual predicted.
